Sponsorship creates attention. Retail media turns it into measurable commerce: the moment a shopper sees your brand is linked to what goes in the basket.

At the shelf
Displays at the door, talkers on the shelf and screens in the aisle all point to one offer. A scan opens it, and the till slip proves the sale.
Most informal outlets have no screen and no loyalty card. Trade Connect reaches them on the phone they already have, with no app, and every order comes back to the brand as a record for that outlet.
Launches, promotions and stock alerts sent by WhatsApp, SMS or USSD, straight to the counter.
Trade Tokens for stocking the product, following the price and joining the promotion.
Orders by product and pack size, outlet by outlet, with stock-outs flagged early.

What brands learn from the informal trade
A concept we are piloting: a small screen in a secure case at the spaza counter, carrying brand adverts where township shoppers buy. It starts with 20 shops in Soweto over six months.
Each screen carries four advert slots, managed and changed remotely from one content system.
Screens run on batteries and keep the adverts stored on the device, then sync when power and signal return.
Owners earn a share of the advert revenue as stock vouchers, paid only when the screen stays on for more than 95% of the month.
Screens are grouped in clusters of 100, each with a field lead and a technician who fixes faults within four hours. Buy the whole network, one area, or only the screens near your store.
Each project says how far it got: results, results to follow, a concept or work in progress.
