Chapter 1 of 8

The brief

Jack Daniel's wanted to stay top of mind between campaigns: keep fans engaged every week, reward the people who buy and bring friends, and build its own verified customer base.

The vision: a living digital space where fans connect, play and earn, blending nightlife, music and culture into one Jack Daniel's world that rewards loyalty online and in the real world, every day, not only when a campaign is running.

Insight

Campaign bursts come and go, and the relationship goes with them. A place fans visit for tickets, rewards and games keeps the brand in their week.

Who it is for
Adults of legal drinking age who follow nightlife, music and events
And for
The bars, liquor outlets and promoters that serve them
Where
A web app and native iOS and Android apps
Behind it
One CMS and CRM, owned by the brand

The idea

Jack Daniel's key visual: Make It Count, beside a row of Jack Daniel's bottles on a barrel with lights behind.

Every sip, share and shout-out earns.

Give Jack Daniel's its own always-on club on web and mobile. Members sign up in under a minute, then earn points and credits for buying event tickets, checking in at partner venues, uploading till slips, posting challenge content and inviting friends. Credits buy event access and retail vouchers, levels and badges reward loyalty, and a rotating QR passport speeds up age-verified entry at the door. Behind it sits one CMS and CRM, so the brand owns the ticketing, the data and the follow-up.

  • Move from campaign bursts to everyday interaction
  • Turn participation into first-party data and insight
  • Reward sharing, events, purchases and referrals
  • Drive traffic to partner bars, events and liquor outlets
  • Build a branded digital community
  • Add new games and seasons without rebuilding

Where fans meet the club

In the venue, at the door, at the event and on the brand's own social pages: every touchpoint carries a code that leads into the same club.

Chapter 4 of 8

Points, credits, levels and rewards

Every action earns two things. Points are the lifetime score: they never expire and rank you on the live leaderboard. Credits are the currency: you spend them on rewards.

Members climb through levels that unlock exclusive access, experiences and bigger rewards, and earn recognition badges for special achievements, from completing challenges to attending events, each with bonus points and credits.

  • Jack Daniel's Old No. 7 badge: Social Star
  • Jack Daniel's Old No. 7 badge: Top Referrer
  • Jack Daniel's Old No. 7 badge: Event Seeker

What credits buy

  1. Experiences Event tickets

Free or discounted tickets to Jack Daniel's events, issued in the app. Higher levels unlock VIP and VVIP upgrades.

  2. In store A sample R100 Jack Daniel's voucher. R50 to R250

Chapter 5 of 8

Every feature, in detail

Twelve parts of one platform. Where the proposal sets a reward, the figure beside it is points plus credits.

Sign-up and verification

Free registration in under a minute, with Google or email (verified by a link) and a cell number verified by one-time PIN. The platform reads country, province and city from the connection, so the brand learns where members are without adding a step. The result: fewer abused rewards, and a clean, verified, location-aware customer base.

Jack Daniel's registration screen with an 18-plus age notice.
Events and ticketing

Jack Daniel's hosts its own events on its own platform, with no third-party ticketing: early bird, phase 1 and 2, VIP and VVIP tickets, bundle deals such as buy one get one free, local payment gateways, and points and credits for every purchase and check-in. Every ticket sale adds to the CRM, with real-time reporting.

Tickets are not static email attachments. Buyers assign them to friends by WhatsApp, email or SMS; the friend registers and accepts; a dashboard shows each ticket as pending or accepted, and an unused ticket can be revoked and reassigned. Every ticket is tied to a registered person, so attendance is verified and nothing goes to waste.

My Passport at the door

Every member has a passport with a QR code that refreshes every 30 seconds, so screenshots can't be shared. At the door, a scan shows the member's photo, name and date of birth; the doorman checks ID once to confirm they are 18 or older, and the member is marked verified for faster entry next time. It keeps under-age guests out and stops fake or shared accounts.

Jack Daniel's My Passport screen with a QR code that refreshes every 30 seconds.
Cashless wallet

Each member has a wallet, topped up by card or credited by tickets that include a cash component. At events, drinks, food, merchandise and activities are paid with the passport or an NFC wristband: no cash, no queues, less risk of theft or fraud, and every transaction on record for reporting.

Invite a friend50 + 50

Each member gets a personal invite link to share by WhatsApp, email, SMS or social media. When the friend registers and verifies, both earn points and credits, with bonus rewards for milestones such as five friends. A referral dashboard tracks each invite as pending, accepted or verified.

Surveys and polls50 + 50

The brand builds surveys in the dashboard, from a single poll to a full questionnaire, and sends them to members by level, region or behaviour. Members earn on completion; results show in real time. A sample question: how do you usually drink Jack Daniel's? Neat, on the rocks, with a mixer, in a cocktail or as a shot.

Venue check-ins

Members scan a branded QR code or check in by location at partner bars, restaurants, clubs and events, and earn points and credits for each verified visit, once a day per venue. Every check-in is logged in the CRM, so the brand can see its top venues and regions.

Jack Daniel's check-ins screen listing partner venues with check-in buttons.
Till slips

Members buy Jack Daniel's at Checkers LiquorShop, Shoprite LiquorShop, Pick n Pay Liquor or Boxer Liquors and photograph the till slip in the app. AI reads the store, date, time and product and checks it against the campaign rules; duplicate or altered slips are flagged. Points and credits follow the quantity bought, and every slip is a verified sale.

Jack Daniel's Submit Till Receipt screen with a photographed till slip and a submit button.
Post and tag challenges

Weekly or monthly challenges, such as a shooter challenge or “strike a pose”, ask members to post a photo or video on their own Instagram, Facebook or TikTok, tag Jack Daniel's and use the challenge hashtag. Posts are checked daily; approved ones earn points and credits and appear on the club's challenge feed.

The brand's social pages500 + 500

The brand's Facebook, Instagram and X feeds show inside the club. Following a page, verified by logging in to that network, earns 500 points and 500 credits. Sharing a Facebook post within 24 hours of publication earns 25 + 25; liking or reposting on X earns 10 + 10. The 24-hour window keeps sharing fresh and stops spam.

Custom games

Jack Daniel's-branded games, built for the brand, in the web app and the native apps. Players earn points and credits for playing and scoring well, scores feed the leaderboard, and new games can arrive every month to keep the club fresh.

One CMS and CRM

One admin system runs everything: email, SMS, WhatsApp and push campaigns; the social feeds; events, tickets, payments and the passport; points, credits, levels, badges and the leaderboard; rewards, photo campaigns, surveys, polls and games; users, statistics and data export. Branded emails are built from templates, personalised with each member's name, level and points, scheduled, targeted by location, gender or interests, and tracked (sent, opened, clicked, unsubscribed).

Chapter 6 of 8

Promoters, online and on the ground

Three tools put people to work for the brand: promoters in the venue, a national team of online promoters selling tickets, and a photo booth that turns a night out into a sign-up.

Promoter management

Promoters log in for their shift, check in at the venue by GPS and are paired with a co-promoter. They take a full-length selfie in uniform and a photo of the display, so brand standards are checked on the spot. Customers scan the promoter's QR code to buy Jack Daniel's shots by cash or card, and can tip. Each shot bought is one spin on a spin and win game, with free shots, merchandise, event tickets or vouchers to claim from the promoter. Live leaderboards rank promoters by sales; a GPS check-out ends the shift with a digital cash-up.

Online promoters

A digital sales force of real fans. Online managers recruit and run teams of online promoters, who sell event tickets through social media, WhatsApp, email and their own networks. Each promoter has a unique link and promo code that gives the buyer a discount; managers earn commission on their team's sales, paid monthly and recorded in the system, so every sale and payout is tracked.

Social Snapper photo booth

At events and activations, a photographer with a camera or a roaming promoter with an iPad captures photos or video. Guests pick a favourite and a Jack Daniel's frame; the promoter sends it by SMS link or to an NFC wristband. To download it, the guest registers, and registering gives one free spin for an instant prize. Customers buy a Jack Daniel's to have their photo taken, and every share to social media earns points and credits.

What we proposed, and what the brand gets

Own the community, own the data.

This is a proposal, so there are no results yet. Owning the relationship with its customers would let Jack Daniel's:

  • Reward purchases in real time, and influence what people buy
  • Cut wasted trade spend through data-led targeting
  • Turn casual buyers into advocates with gamified rewards
  • Sell measurable media through promoters and mobile
  • Run new challenges, ticketing and games from one place

The next step: a pilot

The engine, the gamification and the CRM are already built, ready to brand and switch on. The proposal closes with a pilot scoping session to agree four things:

1
Target markets and objectives
2
Which features go live first
3
Reward structures and event tie-ins
4
Technical integration and launch dates

Hosted on Microsoft Azure in South Africa and POPIA compliant.

Make every moment a Jack Daniel's moment.
